David Rhyne, M.D. was born in Selma Alabama, and is the founder of Professional Medical Associates. Dr. Rhyne attended Auburn University and graduated with a Bachelor of Chemistry and Biology in 1976. He graduated from the University of Alabama Medical School in 1980, then completed a fellowship in Internal Medicine at Carraway Medical Center, and later completed a preceptorship in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. In August of 1983, He founded an internal medicine practice in Enterprise, Alabama named Professional Medical Association. “The dream started in 1983 after completing my Internal Medicine Boards. My wife Diane and I decided on Enterprise, Alabama. My Friends said I was boarding the ‘Starship Enterprise.’ My first office was adjacent to the Enterprise Hospital and Nursing Home. Immediately upon opening the clinic, there were plenty of warm and friendly patients who welcomed me to Enterprise. I covered the nursing home as well as both hospitals and Emergency Rooms and was able to care for patients throughout their illness and follow up with them in the clinic. The next year Dr. Gary Allen joined and quickly established a practice in Internal Medicine. Following him many physicians from various specialties have joined our clinic: Dr. Dan Sawyer - General Surgery, Dr. Sam Sawyer - General Surgery, Dr. Ben Parish - Family Medicine, Dr. Karen Mocker - Family Medicine, Dr. Bill Reynolds - Internal Medicine, Dr. Doug Jones - Internal Medicine. Today, the clinic consists of five doctors: Dr. Beverly Jordan - Family and Sports Medicine, Dr. Andy Gammill - Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, Dr. LeeAnn Kettunen - Family Medicine, Dr. Nicholas McQueen - Internal Medicine, and Dr. Valerie Sherrer - Family Medicine. The clinic has gradually added on services for patients, in house lab, x-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and much more to help us give our patients the best treatment possible.” Throughout his time working in Enterprise, he was President of the Alabama Internal Medical Association, Medical Director of Enterprise Health and Rehab for 41 years, Hospice Director for several enterprise hospices, and a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Enterprise. He married his wife, Diane Massey, in 1977 and together they have three beautiful children, David Nelson Rhyne Jr., Marykathryn Kendig, Rachel Rhyne, and five wonderful grandchildren whom he loves dearly. After 38 years practicing at PMA, Dr. Rhyne retired in August of 2021. He enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to see his clinic grow, and considered his patients to be his friends.
